Decorating Gingerbread Houses With Cousins!!

This last Monday my mom and my sister and her 2 cute girls (Lynlee and Brenna) came over to decorate gingerbread houses and a gingerbread train.  It was really fun.  My mom and my 2 nieces came with me to get Wyatt off of the bus from school first then decorate their houses and train.  They had a fun time.  They even enjoyed eating the frosting and treats while decorating.  This is how their gingerbread houses and train turned out!!  It was really fun!!  Thanks for coming over!!  This will probably end up being a new tradition!!

Family Festival at UVU!!

We went down to UVU a couple of weekends ago to go to the Family Festival they were holding there.  My brother even came over to meet us since he lives down the street from UVU.  When we first got there the boy scouts and other leaders were there selling pinewood derby kits and had a huge track that had a loop in it as well that people were able to use to race their cars.  Doug and Wyatt made a car while we were there and raced it.  Wyatt's wheels were a little bit off so it didn't quite make it around the look the first time.  We worked on it a bit more and raced it again later and it did great!!  Wyatt gets a family pass through his school to attend the festival.  It is really a lot of fun.  When we enter the festival Wyatt is given a packet that has $5 of paper money that he gets to use to go towards games, bouncy houses, food, etc.  They have booths set up for the kids to earn more dollars as they go.  If they deposit their $5 at a bank at the event for 20 minutes, the bank will double it up to $10.  Wyatt earned quite a few dollars that day by going to all of the stations and investing his money.  He played games and raced his pinewood derby car.  He even received a badge/patch from the scout troop that was there for racing his car.  At the end if the kids have any extra dollars left they can either take some of them to an actual bank and trade it in for $5 in their account at that bank or they can donate their dollars to an organization like KUED 11 where the dollars that are donated get traded in for actual money from the bank which is really neat.  Wyatt donated his money to the KUED 11 station because he really likes some of the kids shows they have.  In the picture Wyatt was standing next to cut outs of Daniel Tiger and Super Why.  It was really fun time.

Halloween!!

Wyatt with his trick or treating stash.
Here are a couple of photos from Halloween.  I will have to add some more.  Wyatt was the dark knight Batman this year.  I didn't get a photo of him just in his costume.  He was in his thermals that he wore under his costume really quickly because he got warm quickly after trick or treating.  We had quite a busy day.  We went to Wyatt's parade at school, I was in charge of Wyatt's class party at school, plus trick or treating.  For Wyatt's classroom party they had 2 crafts they did (a picture they colored and made a spider web out of  a black plate, yarn and a bug), they decorated sugar cookies, listened to stories, and played 2 games.  I think they all had a good time.  I was able to take Wyatt trick or treating this year.  It was a lot of fun.  I came up with a costume at the last minute.  I dressed up in Doug's high school graduating gown and used Wyatt's cap that he wore for his Kindergarten graduation.  It was hilarious.  I got a few funny comments about it like you're just graduating or professor, etc.  It was a hoot.  Doug stayed home an maned the trick or treater's at our house.  Usually we run out of candy but this year was a bit slower for some reason and we had candy left over which is unusual.  It ended up being pretty decent weather wise for trick or treating as well.

Kaylie's Birthday Party!!

For my niece's 1st birthday my sister Kelleen had a costume party because my niece's birthday is so close to Halloween.  It was really fun.  Everyone dressed up in a costume.  They had relay races, candid photos, and the kids were able to go trick or treating to some of the dorms.  They had a blast with that.  It was really fun.

Reflections Contest!!

Every year with Wyatt's school they have a program called Reflections.  It is a contest the kids in the school are able to participate in.  They are able to do artwork, 3D art, musical numbers, photography, etc.  Wyatt entered a picture this year.  The theme was Believe, Dream, Inspire and they had to base their work off of one of those categories.  Wyatt drew a picture and said that he dreamed that it was his back yard.  He had drawn a picture of Nana Page's back yard with a dear in it, a swing set, an apple tree, etc.  Each student that entered received some sort of prize.  Wyatt got a T-shirt, some coupons to Chick-fil-a and a gift certificate to get an Italian ice.  We took a picture of all of the students, the principal and PTA president as well.  There were some students who won medals or a grand prize.  But we thought it was pretty neat that all the students got an award of some sort.  We are proud of Wyatt for entering a picture.  He loves doing artwork.

Lynlee's Birthday Party!!

For my niece's birthday party my sister had a gymnastic bus come to their home.  On the inside of the bus they have all sorts of gymnastic type equipment that the kids got to play on.  They all had a ball.  Wyatt loved swinging on the rope.

Sunset!!

Here is one of the beautiful sunsets we have had out by us.  Just love the view!!

Cornbelly's!!

A couple of weekends ago we went to Cornbelly's.  It was really fun.  We went through a small and huge corn maze, Doug and Wyatt went on a small tractor pulled ride, we went through a hay maze, Wyatt and Doug had a duck race, we all went on a larger tractor type ride, Wyatt jumped on a huge pillow thing that is like a huge trampoline, etc. Wyatt did an activity where he got a bag that had sand and fossils in it.  He was able to dump the bag in a wash pan, wash away the sand and get the fossils out.  He loved all of it.  It was a fun activity for all of us.  It takes up a good chunk of the day because there is so much to do.

Fun Day Out!!

On a weekend towards the beginning of October we went out to do some fun activities.  We went to Thanksgiving Point to see a Pumpkin weigh in and do some activities there, then we went down to a ice cream place in Orem that was celebrating it's 10th anniversary.  We had some yummy frozen custard ice cream cones, had some games, and Wyatt had his face painted.  It was fun to get out for a bit.

State Fair!!

 Pony Rides
They had a section of the fair that was for younger kids.  They were able to act like they were helping out on the farm.  They got to pretend that they planted seeds, pick produce, collect chicken eggs, brush a sheep, and milk a cow.  Once they collected everything and do their "chores", they got a paper dollar bill that they were able to spend at the farm country store to buy something.  They could choose from crackers, milk, an apple, etc.  It was really cute and fun.  Wyatt also made a mask that looked like a pig.  It was a fun activity.

On Monday Doug, Wyatt and I went up to the State Fair and met up with my parents, my Uncle Scott, 2 of my sisters and all of the cousins.  It was really fun.  Wyatt and his cousin Brogan had a blast hanging out.  They checked out the animals, looked at the produce that had been entered, had pizza for dinner, went on a few rides, watched a magic/science show, went to the Little Hands on the Farm, etc.  It was a lot of fun.  This is a tradition my parents have been doing for years.  They use to take the grand kids themselves when there were a couple of them but now we all got to go up and hang out.  It was a fun day!!

Antelope Island Stampede!!

 Wyatt eating a blue slushy.

 Kite Festival.

An owl they had out to show everyone.

Playing with bubbles.

Recently Wyatt and I went out to Antelope Island for something called a Stampede.  They had a kite flying festival going on, BMX bikers teaching other kids how to do some stunts off of a jump, pie eating contests, inflatable toys for the kids to play on, a tractor pulling a train behind it that Wyatt rode in, someone was blowing bubbles with long sticks and rope which was pretty cool, etc.  They had quite a few activities to do.  Wyatt was able to make his own kite which flew really well.  The kites that people were flying were really neat as well.  They had frogs, a kite that looked like Levi pants and boots, a bright yellow octopus, one that looked like a dinosaur, etc.  There were quite a few different types of kites.  It was fun to watch.  One gentleman even let Wyatt take a try at flying a kite.  He was a little nervous but enjoyed it.  Apparently they have been doing the stampede for 7 years.  It was a fun afternoon activity.

Our Hunting Cats!!

Here are some funny photos of our cats.  Lately we have had so many flies in our house.  Our cats hunt them down and eat them which is very helpful.  Lately our cat that has the poofy tail (Puffball) has climbed up to the top part of the window by himself to track down flies.  We had to put the other cat (Jinks) up their but he was fine with it once he was up there.  It is hilarious to watch the cats track down the flies.  They jump up in the air so high and swat at the windows.  It is so funny to watch but it is very helpful at the same time.
